About Art & Soul Fundraiser
Congregation B’nai Israel hosts Art & Soul, its biennial fundraiser, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 27 at the B’nai Israel synagogue at 3354 Kleinert Ave. This one-night event includes a live and silent auction, wine and signature cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a live performance with LSU professor and jazz legend Bill Grimes with his quartet.
The auction features more than 125 items, including trips, merchandise and gift certificates from some of the area’s most popular restaurants and retailers, along with a Shaquille O’Neal framed autographed jersey, a Skip Bertman-hosted tour of Alex Box stadium including four game tickets, David Humphreys original artwork, two-week digital billboard campaign, choice wine and spirits, a Haspel seersucker suit and fine jewelry. Several vacations are available, including trips to Orange Beach, Alabama and a private plane trip for lunch in Houston at Kenny and Ziggy’s New York Deli.
Auction bidding, hors d’oeuvres and spirits begin at 6:30 p.m. The music presentation starts at 7:30. Bids will be taken until 8:15 p.m. on the night of the event at bnaibr.org.
Grimes, one of the nation’s leading pops orchestra arrangers, will perform with the Bill Grimes Quartet, along with vocalist Judy Davis as special guest.
Art & Soul supports B’nai Israel’s youth educational programs, including the religious school and youth groups.
In addition to the auction, B’nai Israel will raffle a pair of black pearl and diamond earrings valued at $850 from Lee Michaels Fine Jewelers.
